Savvy Rest Latex Pillow- Review and Giveaway

Savvy Rest provided me with two Shredded Latex pillows free of charge; one to review and one to giveaway to a lucky fan! (In no way did this influence my review or opinion on this product)

I received my pillow from SavvyRest in the mail last week and was shocked when I opened it; the pillow weighs at least 10lbs, if you wanted to do some damage in a pillow fight, this would be the pillow to bring lol.

The first night I tried to sleep with it, I couldn't because it was way to overstuffed and I just thought to myself "Oh my goodness, how am I going to do a review on a pillow that I can't even sleep on!" For the past week I've been putting off this review and just sleeping with the pillow between my legs or under my arms. Then last night I tried sleeping on it again, thinking maybe I was just having sleeping issues the first time, but nope I still couldn't get to sleep on it.

At this point it's been a week since I received the pillow and and I really need to write this review and set up the giveaway. So, I started with the giveaway first and set that up, then started on the review. I got the "bright" idea to add a link to the pillow on Savvy Rest's website and here's what I found:

"Soft, shredded latex (blended Dunlop and Talalay) conforms to your neck and shoulders for secure yet moveable support. These pillows are intentionally overstuffed so you can make your own perfect, personal fit. Just unzip the inner and outer casings and remove any amount of fill to create just-right height and density. Approximate height: 4-8”

I feel like such a ______ (you can fill in the blank, lol) To Be Continued....

Continuation:

Last night I unstuffed a gallon sized ziploc baggy of the stuffing from my pillow. You know those little tiny styrofoam balls used to stuff beanbag chairs, that static cling to everything? That's kind of like what the stuffing for this pillow is like.

When you decide to unstuff the pillow, be sure to get an extra person, you should have seen the mess I made with this, trying to juggle the "dump" bag and the 10 lb pillow, I got shredded latex everywhere! My cat, socks, bed...all had signs of this pillow, lol. Picking up the mess isn't that easy either, like I said it clings to everything, I tried to wipe it up with my hands that didn't work, a paper towel, that didn't work, and of course I couldn't start the vaccum because my daughter was sleeping, but I did find that those really fuzzy soft socks, work wonders for getting this stuff up! But I suggest using a vaccuum any other time.

This pillow is definatly a trial and error type of product, which has it's perks and slight downfalls. The downfall is that you have to keep taking out the stuffing until it suits you or add if you took too much out. The perk is you will have a pillow tailored just for you.

For me taking out the baggy full wasn't enough, so I had to get another bag and empty more filling out, but after I did that it was perfect. Once I had the pillow just right, I slept very well, at least until my daughter woke up around 1am. Having a pillow that doesn't crank my head up to where it hurts my neck or so flat that I have to fold it twice to get somewhat comfortable (yeah, I have some pretty bad pillows normally) is a dream come true! It's so nice to have a pillow that I can actually "adjust" to my comfort.

One thing I'm not sure of is if this pillow flattens with time like other pillows do, I mean it wouldn't be a problem if it does, since I'll be prepared to restuff it with the saved stuffing I put in the baggys.

I give this pillow an A+; besides my old feather pillow I had years ago, this is the best pillow I've ever owned and would recommend it to anyone who is tired (hehe) of having an uncomfortable pillow or a pillow that causes them pain when they sleep.

Tips:
  • The outer shell is thick and durable, the end unzips all the way so you can take it off the actual pillow and wash it seperatly, it's like a secondary pillow case, trust me you don't want the pillow to unzip and have the stuffing come out, I suggest keeping this casing on.
  • The pillow itself unzips 1/3 of the way on the end, for you to access the stuffing, try not to get the stuffing caught in the zipper
  • I suggest using a sealable bag for the stuffing, so that you can save and store it easily
  • Have someone help you unstuff your pillow, it will make things so much easier and less messy
