I have multiple tattoos, but it had been about 10 years since I received my last one. I wanted another tattoo, but I didn't know what to get and I didn't have the "itch," that is until I had a dream a few months back about me getting a tattoo (a horrible one, giant back piece of a skeleton on a half motorcycle, half horse...yeah, I don't know) and even though the dream was of a mortifying tattoo, it awakened my "itch."
Within weeks of my dream, I contacted Body Art about writing a review in exchange for a discount for my readers and I, which put me in contact with Matthew Flanagan, one of Body Art's tattoo artists. Matt had me make a consultation appointment to discuss the details of the discount and the tattoo I wanted.
Arriving to my appointment, I noticed how clean and comfortable Body Art was. They had a great seating area with a T.V. and magazines and in the reception area, they had a large selection of body jewelry, since they also perform piercings.
When Matt was available he met me in the seating area to talk business; he was very friendly and easy to talk to. The consultation itself was fairly quick since I already knew what I wanted (I had drawn it up the night before) and where I wanted it. With all of the details known, we made an appointment for the next week.
The next week came and it was time for my tattoo session. Matt was ready when I got there, but let me wait for my husband to arrive. When he did, we were brought to a private room, where we started off the session by trying to find the perfect placement for the tattoo Matt drew up for me, which took about 8 attempts. Then it was tattoo time.
The tattoo took about 45 minutes to do and Matt was great throughout the entire experience. He was talkative, played great music, told great stories, yet remained precise and focused.
End result? Perfect, it's very obvious he has 10 years of GOOD tattooing experience. I love this new tattoo, my previous tattoos aren't horrible (I've seen a lot worse), but definitely lack the detail and quality Matt's piece contains. I will only go to him for my tattoos from now on.
So, from my little run down above we know Matt does great small scale work, but what about larger pieces? I have that answer...he does great large scale, too. The week after I got my tattoo, my husband got his first tattoo, and it was not tiny, lol.
His tattoo took about 4 hours and Matt was great throughout that one as well, I missed the majority of it being done because I was at work, but he allowed my husband to take breaks and move around a bit since it was so large and his first tattoo. When the pain became too much for my husband, Matt touched it up as quickly as possible, so my husband didn't have to go in for another session. The end result was just fantastic and exactly what my husband wanted.
Well, we all know now that Body Art has a great tattoo artist (Mr. Matthew Flanagan), but what about that discount for my readers I was talking about? If you call Body Art: (802)863-7870 and make a consultation appointment (they're 30 minutes long, if that) and mention my website, they'll choose a participating tattoo artist and you'll receive a 10% discount on a tattoo of $100 or more! I recommend going in knowing what you want, with either a rough sketch or a picture (yours or printed off the internet) for them to go off, it makes things easier, but they can also draw you up a custom piece.

For the locals it's to the left of Nectar's and up the stairs. They are open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. 7 days a week, which allows them to work with almost anyone's schedule. I got mine done on a weekday after work. The only issue I had was finding a parking space, I recommend getting there early in case you need to walk from a parking garage.
