Hot Dots Review and Giveaway

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. I applied for this review because I have no clue in going about teaching my daughter, Mary, how to read. I get frustrated very easily, which puts stress on both her and I, causing her to regress. After seeing this item I thought that the Hot Dots learning system could really help out and solve some of my teaching problems.

Hot Dots is age appropriate for children in the learning ages of Pre-K up to 3rd Grade and comes in either reading or math. Each kit comes with two learning books and comes with a Hot Dots interactive pen.

The Hot Dots interactive pen requires two NEW AAA batteries (not included). I stress the new because the pen will NOT work if the batteries are slightly used, the pen will flash once and then not do anything again. I finally had to break down and go to the store after I tried six different batteries that I thought were new, but turned out weren't.

I gave this product to my daughter the day it arrived and she was in love with it. She's a book hoarder, so the books were a big hit, but most of all she loved the dog pen; even when the pen wasn't working she just wanted to play with it (she's pretty easy to please). When I finally had batteries that worked, I put them in the pen, and tested it on the activity book, my daughter was on me like white on rice, like climb over me, near elbow to the face, knee to the spleen kind of excitement.

Once she calmed down and I was able to show her how it works, she caught on fast. To use it you just press down on one of the black dots in the activity books to answer the question being asked. If you're correct the dogs eyes lights up green and he says a word of praise and gets more excited the more answers you get correct. If you're wrong the eyes will light up red and he'll make a sad sound or a try again statement. When Mary realized she got praise for the correct answer and that the dog got more excited, she started thinking about the questions more and taking her time answering.

It's great seeing how much she will relax and think about the question being asked of her now, instead of her saying something random and not caring if she was right or wrong, then running off. Mary will sit down at the table now and concentrate on the activity books and really give it her all.

I definitely recommend this product, my daughter loves playing with it and gets so excited when she gets the answer right and the pen lights up and says she was correct. You can buy a Hot Dots set from Educational Insights website for $24.99, I've also seen them at Toys R Us for around the same price and you can even find them on Amazon, which might have a better price.

Pictures coming soon, my camera is on the fritz

You can find Educational Insights on their:
Great news, I'm also allowed to giveaway a Hot Dots educational system to one lucky fan! The winner will be able to choose a Hot Dots of their choice (Grades Pre-K to 3rd Grade either Math or Reading). To enter use the Rafflecopter form below.

Nestle Holiday Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Tis’ the season for holiday celebrations with festive treats!

As the year’s biggest holiday celebrations approach, moms are planning ahead for all of their entertaining, gift giving and decorating needs to ensure their friends and family’s favorite treats are available. Nestlé is here to help with an innovative, budget-friendly candy and recipes that will leave moms smiling and also have Santa skipping cookies and reaching for Nestlé candy!

Moms can kick off the holiday season with these unique products from WONKA, Nestlé Crunch and Butterfinger that are all less than $10 and are great treats for gatherings and as thoughtful gifts.

Nestle sent me a few items and asked me to incorporate them into a holiday recipe, I'm going to be honest and say that the Nerd rope didn't make it longer then a day (husband ate it) and I was lucky the the Sweet Tart gummies made it until today.

I wanted to do something easy with the candy that I had left, so that my daughter could help me out, so what I did was...

  • Grabbed a bag of Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie mix (it's hard to do things from scratch with a 3 year old, so I take the easiest way out).
  • Mixed it up according to the directions
  • Laid some flour out and flattened the dough on top of it
  • Handed my daughter some Christmas cookie cutters and let her have at it
  • Once she was finished, I popped the cookies in the oven
  • When they were done, I placed them on a cooling rack
  • I then heated up some Pillsbury frosting in the microwave for 15 seconds, so that it wouldn't tear the cookies up. Once the cookies were cool enough, I glazed the cookies with the heated frosting.
  • Then had my daughter place the Sweet Tart Holiday Gummies where ever she wanted on the iced cookies

If you're looking for a fun holiday activity or don't have the money to buy everyone gifts, then bake! It's easy, relatively cheap, and you can use Nestle candy to spice things up a bit. Use the pictures below as inspiration :)

Good luck, have fun, and Happy Holidays!

Bed of Nails Review- Nail A Healthier LifeStyle!

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. I requested to review the Bed of Nails, mainly for my husband, he has all sorts of back problems and I'm always looking for something that has the potential of alleviating some of his pain.

The Bed of Nails Mat looks a bit like a torture device, it's not actually made of nails, but is covered with 210 acupressure plates, each covered with 42 rounded nails for a total of 8820 "nails" per mat. The mat is a decent size, it spans from my shoulders to my...ah... hind quarters, and I'm 5'4" the actual measurements are 16.5"x28.5" at 1" thick.

Bed of Nails is considered an excellent aid in self-treatment. How it works is similar to acupuncture, the pressure of the rounded nails against the skin helps the body release endorphins (the body's chemical that provides a sense of joy, energy and pain relief) and oxytocin, which makes you calm and relaxed. Everybody reacts differently to this product and results will even vary with the same person. If the Bed of Nails is used on a regular basis for a long enough period of time it may:
  • Improve circulation
  • Increase energy level
  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Alleviate headaches
  • Constipation...yeah I don't know, lol
  • Improve sleep and relieve insomnia
  • Relieves back pain
  • Relieve muscle aches and tension
  • Alleviate Malaise
  • Activate the parasympathetic nervous system
  • Improve heart rate variability
  • Benefit weight loss by reducing cortisol levels
  • Cellulite -May reduce the appearance of cellulite by creating more blood flow to the area on which Bed of Nails is used, this can help break down the fat groupings which causes the cellulite's plumpish display.
  • It's also known to help the body rid itself of toxins.
Yeah I know long list, my husband even rolled his eyes and said yeah right, sounds a little too good to be true. But you know what? I can see some of these benefits ringing true.

When I used the mat for the first time, I wore my shirt (the instructions say that might be wise, so that your body can get used to the "nails"), after a few minutes I started getting super relaxed and even started falling asleep while my husband was talking to me, I wasn't even tired before I laid down, I think I was actually stressed out and wound up at the time. When I finally peeled myself off the mat my entire upper body felt heavy and relaxed and even warm.

One of the best perks of the Bed of Nails is that it's completely safe and will always be there for you, no more reaching for a bottle of Advil that probably won't work or some prescription drug. You have the potential of being relieved of any of the ailments listed above by simply using it for at least 10-20 minutes a day (newer users might want to use it less until they get used to it), but there's also no harm in using it longer or even falling asleep on it, zero side effects to boot.

Please note:  The Bed of Nails should not be used in case of skin disease, hemophilia or the intake of anticoagulants. If you are uncertain, always consult your doctor before use. Keep away from children 5 years of age and younger.

The Bed of Nails products are made of non-toxic 100% recycled ABS plastic that is melted on to the fabric (no glue is used), 100% cotton (AZO cert, no synthetic during dye), foam is made of PU (no PAHS chemical). If you're interested they also sell a pillow version of this. You can choose to order either green or pink. The mats cost $50 and the pillow $30 on their website, but you can also find them on Amazon for possibly a cheaper price.

I would recommend this product to anyone, even if you don't have any of issues above, but if you do suffer and are tired of products or medicines that don't work, give this a try, it feels great and could really make a difference in your life

You can find Bed of Nails on their:

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Piczzle Review & Giveaway

I was chosen to review a puzzle product from Piczzle. Piczzle is a company that specializes in turning your pictures into puzzles. You can choose the size of your puzzle from small to giant, how many pieces you want from 6 to 2,000 pieces, if you want wooden or cardboard pieces, and the shape (regular, heart and round).

I chose the 16 piece Medium Basic Design with cardboard pieces because I wanted to get something special for my daughter. I thought the 6 piece would be too easy since she's almost 4 and the 24+ seemed to be a bit much, so 16 pieces seemed like a happy medium.

With these puzzles you can also chose to add text up to 35 characters per line (2 lines), the "Font, size, color and positioning will be determined by their professional graphic designers for optimal result."

The one thing that I was some what disappointed with is that after you upload your picture you can't crop or adjust it, you'd have to find a way to do that before you uploaded it.

I received my order a week or so after it was ordered and when I opened it, my heart sank a little. The photo on top of the box that depicts the puzzle inside was grainy and I thought it was a preview of what the actual puzzle was going to look like, but luckily I was wrong. The actual picture on the puzzle was 100% better then the box photo.

I'm beyond pleased with this product. The photo that I had chosen to have the puzzle done with was a picture of my daughter and husband. When I handed my daughter the box she exclaimed "That's my daddy!," she absolutely adores this product and is constantly taking it apart and putting it back together.

Besides the not being able to crop the photo feature and the box photo, the only other down side I can see to this product is that the puzzle pieces aren't glossy, I guess they would be what is considered flat. This only bothers me because if my daughter gets anything on the pieces it's not going to wipe off easily/at all, it's just going to stain the pieces.

In my honest opinion though I would recommend creating a custom picture puzzle to anyone, based on my daughter's love for it alone. The Piczzle picture puzzles start at $21.95, plus $6.95 shipping and would make great gifts for kids who miss someone, like a parent who's overseas or a grandparent that lives far away, at least that's what I used it for, since my husband is gone for a month, I wanted my daughter to be able to see him whenever she wanted. They could also be used to propose or to commemorate something.

You can find Piczzle on their:

Great news! Piczzle has also given me the opportunity to giveaway a Small Cardboard Puzzle to one lucky fan. Use the Rafflecopter form below to enter. Almondina Review and Giveaway

I was asked to write a review on products made by a company named Almondina (read there story here), whose products are described as Delicious Cookies Without the Guilt and with the word cookie in the request, the fat kid in me accepted.

They're not as much traditional cookies, but biscuits, you know the kind that go with a cup of tea or coffee and to be honest I don't think I've ever eaten a "biscuit" before probably because I don't drink coffee to tea. They contain zero cholesterol and has no added fat, salt, or preservatives and have only 30 calories!

Since I don't drink coffee or tea, I ate the Choconut flavor with hot chocolate, but that hid the flavor so I just started eating them plain. I found that the Almondia cookies (it's so weird calling them cookies) are crunchy, but not teeth breakingly hard.

I chose 3 flavors I liked the most to write individual reviews on.

  1. Choconut- This flavor was nice, there's only a hint of chocolate, the almonds are the main flavor. The only thing I didn't like about them was that there were raisins in the biscuit, which to me doesn't fit with it at all. It doesn't even say that there are raisins in it on the front of the packaging, it only says almond and chocolate biscuits; I thought the dark spots were chocolate chips.
  2. Original-  This flavor was great, it tasted just like a fortune cookie and I totally loved it... until I hit the raisins, not a raisin fan and they totally subtract from the flavor experience and spoil it for me.
  3. Chocolate Cherry-This flavor had a stronger chocolate taste with a tiny hint of cherry and was a tie for my favorite with the Original flavor. Once again raisins in them, total turn off

I REALLY wanted to like these Almondina cookies and I enjoyed the flavors, but they all had raisins in them, a completely unexpected and unwelcome surprise. If you enjoy raisins you have to try these cookies, if you don't like raisins, I'd stay away from them, I personally will probably eat around them or pick them out.

To find a store near you that carries them go Here or you can buy them on Almondina's website

 Flavors available are:
  • Original
  • Chocolate Cherry
  • Choconut
  • Cinnaroma®
  • Gingerspice
  • AlmonDuo®
  • AnniversaryT
  • BranTreats®
  • Seasonal Pumpkin Spice
  • Chocolate Dipped
  • Delights
  • Yogurt Dipped
