Newman's Own Organics Review and Giveaway

Newman's Own Organics

I was given the opportunity to review products from the Newman's Own Organics line. It's easy to confuse Newman's Own and Newman's Own Organics products, but they have a completely different line of products. Newman's Own Organics actually began as a division of Newman's Own that was started in 1993 by Nell Newman and her business partner, Peter Meehan; it became separate company in 2001.

What is Organic:

"Organic produce and other ingredients are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetically modified organisms, or ionizing radiation. Animals that produce meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products do not take antibiotics or growth hormones." (Organic.org

All in all, Newman's Own Organic products are made from back to basic, "clean" ingredients.

As you can see in the picture, Newman's Own Organics sent me a large variety of products to try. The items were either hit or miss for me, some things were great tasting and others I could go the rest of my life without the desire to ever try them again. Due to the fact I was sent 22 items, I've decided to choose four of my favorite products to review, but before I write those I just have to say I LOVE the mint tins, they look vintage and are just awesome, I would buy Newman's Own Organic mints JUST for the tins, lol.

Double Chocolate Chip Cookies
The Double Chocolate Chip Cookies come in a 7 oz bag and have the perfect consistancy, they aren't too hard like Famous Amos, but they're not soft baked either (although someone did leave the bag open and the humidity turned them into soft baked, still good though).

At first I thought the flavor was a bit odd, not gross, but different and I couldn't put my finger on what it tasted like, still can't actually, but after I ate a few they grew on me, tasting better each time. The chocolate chips they use though are divine and melt so smoothly.

Peppermint Cream Cups
One word: Oh-Mer-Gawd! These Peppermint Cream Cups are SO good. They come in three packs, are a bit smaller then Reese Cups and are made of dark chocolate, with a thin peppermint cream layer on the inside. I usually avoid anything with dark chocolate, but am so glad I didn't avoid these delectable little treats.

They taste like an Andes Chocolate or Mint M&M, but much smoother and melted almost instantly on my tongue The peppermint cream isn't at all overwhelming, like a York Peppermint Patty, but creamy and delicate, pairing perfectly with the dark chocolate. I found that it's better to nibble on these and savor the flavor.

Caramel Cups
These Caramel Cups are another one of Newman's Own Organics Oh-Mer-Gawd products. Like the Peppermint Cups they come in three packs, the actual cup being slightly smaller then a Reese Cup, made of dark chocolate with a thin layer of caramel that mate so perfectly together they create a sinful flavor. The caramel tastes the same as the caramel used to make caramel apples and is smooth, not at all gritty like Caramellos tend to be.

Sour Mango Licorice Twists
I'm going to be honest right off the bat...I HATE licorice. The only thing I've ever like about it was if you bit both ends off a piece you could use it as a straw. So naturally I was a little weary trying the Sour Mango Licorice (also not a huge fan of sour flavored food), but I tried them anyway, and I'm so happy I did.

Newman's Own Organic Sour Mango Licorice sticks are delicious! They taste just like dried mangoes only gummier and aren't at all sour. I had saved a few, so that I could eat them and and have a fresh perspective as I wrote my review and was devastated when I found the empty package in the trash, my husband ate them, and he doesn't even like mangos!
Not only was Newman's Own Organics awesome enough to send me all these products to try, but they're also allowing me to do a giveaway! One lucky fan will receive 4 of my favorite products plus a few bonus items! Enter now using the Rafflecopter form below =D
