Nutrisystem Week 12

Week 12 didn't bring any weight loss, it did bring a .2 weight gain though, but I'm not sweating it because I've done really well over the past few months and it's not too significant of a weight gain. This past week I broke down a little and "drank my calories" as in I had 2 small French Vanilla Cappuccinos (a few days apart). The first one I don't regret because that turned out to be an early and long day, with no lunch (I actually gave my lunch to a homeless man), but the second one made me realize why I don't drink them, but a few times a year (they severely upset my stomach).

While I would love to keep losing weight (I'm not giving up don't you worry), these next few weeks are going to be difficult. Not only is Easter on Sunday (the 31st), where there is always too much food where ever my family goes, but I'm sure my stress is going to start rising due to my upcoming surgery on April 8th (complete thyroid/mass removal) and then there's going to be that to deal with, since recovery time will be a week. Oh and then I'll have to get on a thyroid replacement medication which has to be tweaked to fit my needs. So, fun times ahead *oozes sarcasm*

Since the Thyroid is actually pretty important (as in it affects moods, weight, memory, etc) and a lot of times people don't realize they have something wrong with it, I'm going to give you a little information about Thyroid issues, because it can be a HUGE factor in weight.

Hyperthyroidism can cause:
  • Weight loss (after I had my daughter I lost 45 lbs in 6 weeks)
  • Nervousness
  • Weak
  • Shakey
  • Sweaty
  • Hair loss
Hypothyroidism can cause:
  • Dry Skin
  • Hair Loss
  • Tiredness (like a lot, like you NEED to take a nap to function)
  • Weight Gain (I gained 35 lbs in like 6 months AFTER I lost 45 lbs)
  • Depression
  • Period irregularity in women
  • High Cholesterol
  • Memory issues (I can stand up wanting to do something and then forget what I was going to do within seconds)
Anyway I've had them both and they are not pleasant to deal with, Hyperthyroidism can be scary and Hypothyroidism is just plan depressing. If you think you may have one of these problems go see your doctor and have them check you out, it's just a simple blood test.

  1. Nutrisystem, headquartered in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, is a commercial provider of weight loss products and services. Initially, the company offered weight loss counseling and products in brick and mortar centers. In 1999, the company moved to a direct-to-consumer business model, selling its products and programs on the Internet and through a call center via 1-800 numbers. Nutrisystem’s programs have been sold on the QVC television home shopping network since 2001[1] and in Costco stores since 2009.[2] The company entered the retail arena in 2012 with the launch of its "Everyday" line of breakfast and snack items in Kroger grocery stores.[3] In 2013, Nutrisystem began selling its five-day "Jumpstart" line in Walmart stores.[4] In April 2015, the company's "NuMi" mobile app was launched amidst allegations that Nutrisystem had stolen the technology from WebDiet, Inc., a Silicon Valley startup
